My Story
I’m fascinated by and am endlessly studying the link between the body and mind. As the only child of a registered nurse and clinical psychologist, I’m sure you can imagine, the very compelling dinner table talk I was privy to growing up. It’s only natural that I found a way to unify the two in my own professional development (though this wasn’t by design and just kind of happened!).
In my time working as a RN in the traditional healthcare settings, I noticed gaps in our healthcare system that were increasingly hard to ignore. Both as a healthcare provider and later as a patient, in my own time of need, I was so disenchanted by the lack of time, personalization, and empathy afforded to patients navigating their health issues within the U.S. medical system. When I encountered my own health decline, it was difficult to find a provider who approached my health concerns with a curious spirit and desire to figure out the source of the problem. I wasn’t interested in more prescriptions or referrals - I was looking for someone to listen and partner with to help me find solutions.
When I couldn’t get the answers I was looking for, I realized I had to become the healthcare provider that I was searching for. It was through functional medicine and mindset work, that I was able to uncover the source of my own health decline and finally begin to heal. I wanted to light the way for others, and after completing extensive coaching training, I launched my own private health and wellness coaching practice, Body Mind Align. where I get to hold space and empower others to become their own best healers.
I collect useful knowledge and skills like little treasures I get to carry along with me in this life and have come to realize this is a trait many nurses share, as we are so deeply compelled to help our patients as best and completely as we can. Alongside my decade+ career a nurse, I pursued my interests in Eastern wellness traditions, becoming a 200 hour registered yoga instructor and completing a 600 hour study in Ayurvedic Sciences through Kerala Ayurveda Academy.
I received my coaching training through the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy and became dual board-certified as a Holistic Nurse and Nurse Coach through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation. I was further trained in functional medicine for the nursing scope of practice. I’m a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist through the American College of Hypnotherapy, and am lucky enough to have received the gift of my dad’s direct mentorship. Each of these skills & teachings strongly informs my work with clients and has been instrumental in my own personal transformation and healing journey.
